Application Statement:
The M12A2 and the M13 are the smallest and lowest flow combination filters used for CBRN collective protection. Both filters are used in series in the M12A2 air purifier as a part of the M8A3 individual distribution collective protection filter unit.

General Product Description
The M12A2 gas filter and the M13 particulate filter are the standard filters for the M8A3 12-cfm CBRN filtration unit. The M8A3 provides purified air to individual vehicle crew members when positive cabin pressure cannot be maintained. As such it is used as a backup CBRN system in many armored vehicles and as a primary system in tactical vehicles that do not have an enclosed cabin or require an open cabin for operation. Various applications for the M12A2 and M13 filter set include the M88 Recovery Vehicle, and the M58 Smoke generator among others.In the M8A3 CBRN filtration unit, the M12A2/M13 filter set is housed within the M2A2 air purifier, which also contains a blower and an inertial dust separator (cyclone). Contaminated air passes through the fan and cyclone to the M13 particulate filter and finally through the M12A2 gas filter before being distributed to vehicle crew via air-supply hoses.
The M12A2 gas filter utilizes ASZM-TEDA 12x30 high-grade activated carbon to remove gaseous toxic agents from the airstream.
The M13 particulate filter utilizes a glass microfiber media per U.S. military specification MIL-F-51079 to remove toxic particles, chemical agents in aerosol form and bio matter at an efficiency rate of 99.97% at 0.3 microns.
Although described as a set both filters are sold separately and can be used independent of each other.
